Happy Birthday, Betty White! Today, January 17, the legend turns 98, which means it’s time to celebrate this national treasure.
While her acting talent gets a lot of love, what she doesn’t get much credit for is being a Hollywood hottie and a total fashionista It’s just one more thing to add to her list of notable titles, which include being a pioneer of television, a brilliant comedian, an animal rights advocate and more.
Getting her start in the 1940s, White made herself a household name when she took over as host of the Hollywood on Television show in 1952. This was also the same year she became recognized as the first woman to produce a sitcom with the show Life With Elizabeth. From there she went on to star in all kinds of award-winning roles, including Sue Ann Nivens on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Rose Nylund on The Golden Girls and Elka Ostrovsky on Hot in Cleveland. Alongside her eight Emmy wins, she’s also received three SAG Awards and a Grammy.
As incredible as her accolades are, she’s also had an impressive fashion evolution through her many years spent in the spotlight. From the classic pearl and white-glove ensembles of the ’50s to funky looks of the ’70s, White has transformed her look through the years, always remaining on-trend and seriously stylish.
