THREE adults are behind bars in connection to the death of a young boy they allegedly abused for years.
Al-Mutahan McLean, 30, is accused of being the ringleader in the years-long abuse of his 10-year-old son, Takoda Collins, who died earlier this month.
Little Takoda was allegedly locked in a "dirty, dark attic" while naked in addition to being emotionally and physically abused by his father daily over several years, according to a grand jury report obtained by WHIO.
McLean's fiancée Amanda Lee Hinze, 28, and her sister Jennifer Ebert, 25, apparently knew about the abuse but did nothing to stop it, according to the report.
The sisters would allegedly alert McLean "if Takoda was not doing what he was supposed to do," which resulted in a beating.
Police interviews with the suspects revealed "extreme abuse over an extended amount of time," according to a court affidavit.
Authorities reported to McLean's home in Dayton, Ohio on December 13 after he called 911 because Takoda was unresponsive, according to the affidavit and a statement of facts.
The little boy was allegedly found with "multiple cuts and bruises all over his body" and was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Takoda was held underwater and gasped for breath moments before he succumbed to his injuries, according to court documents.
McLean's brazen fiancée even set up and shared a since-deleted GoFundMe page for his deceased son on her Facebook page.
"I asked all my friends and family to please share this post I need all the help I can get," Hinze captioned the December 17 post.
A neighbor who spoke with WHIO claimed she never saw kids - or people in general - over at McLean's home on Kensington Drive.
Montgomery County Children Services spokesman Kevin Lavoie told the news station that the agency didn't have an open case from the address where Takoda died.
However, Lavoie did note that the agency now has an open case involving that address, the station reported.
A three-year-old boy was also at the house at the time of the 10-year-old's death, and the agency is currently ensuring his safety, Lavoie told WHIO.
The cause and manner of little Takoda's tragic death is pending, the Montgomery County Coroner's Office told the station.
Although McLean and his son lived in Dayton, Takoda was home schooled, according to Dayton Public Schools Superintendent Elizabeth Lolli.
It's not clear when the boy was withdrawn from school, Lolli told WHIO.
